Join the forefront of healthcare innovation at Harvard and Boston Children’s Hospital, where informatics, computation, and artificial intelligence (AI) are transforming care delivery and biomedical science.
The Computational Health Informatics Program (CHIP) at Boston Children’s Hospital, an affiliate of Harvard Medical School and a collaborating program of its Department of Biomedical Informatics, is recruiting research faculty at the Instructor, Assistant or Associate Professor levels. We are seeking candidates who are passionate about advancing AI and data science to solve real-world clinical and biomedical challenges.
We invite outstanding researchers to establish their independent research programs, working at the interface of diverse data types—from clinical, epidemiological, and environmental data to molecular and genomic data. Successful candidates will apply AI to drive innovation in areas such as clinical decision-making, predictive medicine, precision health, and population health management. We are especially interested in candidates whose research advances the integration of computational methods in clinical practice, bridging the gap between AI innovation and its practical application in improving patient care, safety, and outcomes across diverse healthcare settings.
CHIP, founded in 1994, is a multidisciplinary applied research and education program that has become a leader in biomedical informatics. Our research spans the design of information infrastructure for clinical decision-making, public health management, and the development of AI and data science methods to improve healthcare outcomes. CHIP faculty come from diverse backgrounds, including medicine, data science, computer science, and epidemiology, and our research agenda covers persons of all ages, with particular strengths in pediatric research.
CHIP is located in beautiful, newly-designed space at 401 Park Drive, in the heart of the Fenway neighborhood of Boston, and surrounded by wonderful dining, entertainment, and sports.
Qualifications
Candidates at the Instructor or Assistant Professor level should demonstrate a strong quantitative background and a history of innovative approaches to biomedical inquiry or the application of computational methods in medicine. All qualified applicants must hold a doctoral degree (MD, PhD, MD/PhD, or equivalent), have a strong record of publishing, and exhibit a commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration. Faculty are expected to teach, mentor, and secure independent funding to support their research.
